Global AIDS Curriculum Update

Since 2006, Slum Doctor Programme educators have been presenting our global HIV/AIDS curriculum in high schools and community groups throughout Whatcom County. We have spoken with over 1,000 community youth about the global AIDS pandemic and the underlying social and political issues that contribute to staggering infection rates in sub-Saharan Africa.

Our educating was put on hold however, when the Bellingham School District asked that our curriculum be approved for use in local classrooms. We met with the Curriculum Board in February and recently received word that our curriculum was approved for 8th-12th grade. I hope that with this decision we will reach even more students and will be bombarded with requests from teachers to present in their classrooms!

To find our more about our presentation go to the Global AIDS Curriculum page. If you have any questions about the curriculum or want to schedule a presentation, email me (paige@slumdoctor.org).
